Curious about how to properly hydrate my grass given our area's weather and the ground composition. Could you provide some guidance?

Gardening Landscaping & Lawn Services
When it comes to grass hydration, several variables come into play. A general recommendation is to hydrate your grass between 1 to 1.5 inches weekly, distributed over two or three sessions. But remember, weather in your area and ground composition have vital roles. For instance, a dry, hot area or sandy ground may necessitate more frequent hydration, as such conditions lead to rapid evaporation or drainage. On the other hand, cooler, humid weather or clay-rich ground might need less, given their high retention of moisture. We also advise doing this task in the early morning to lessen water loss due to evaporation.

I've recently had a large tree removed from my yard, but it's left an unsightly patch in the midst of my grass. How can I repair and regrow the lawn in this area?

Gardening Landscaping & Lawn Services
After the tree removal, the stump and any surface roots should be completely removed from your yard to prevent regrowth and to create a level surface. Next, use a stump grinder to pulverize the remaining underground roots. This will create a mixture of wood chips and soil. It's crucial to remove as much of this mix as possible and replace it with fresh topsoil. Finally, plant grass seed and water it well. Over time, the new grass will blend with your existing lawn.

Residing in a rural area, I find myself faced with a tree stump that remains after the tree has been cut down. I am contemplating whether it would be more advantageous to grind the stump or to completely eradicate it?

Gardening Stump Removal & Grinding
The decision between grinding and full extraction often depends on your plans for the area. Grinding is generally less invasive and more efficient as it leaves the surrounding soil undisturbed. This method involves using a grinder to turn the leftover tree part into mulch or wood chips, allowing the roots to naturally decompose over time. Conversely, complete removal entails extracting both the visible portion and the roots. This process can disrupt your yard more but leaves the ground clear for planting or construction.
