What could be the reason for my washing machine to begin producing an excessive knocking sound, predominantly during its spin cycle? It's causing quite a disturbance.

Your washing machine knocking during the spin cycle could indicate an unbalanced load. It's also possible that the drum's bearings are worn out. An unbalanced load can occur if the weight distribution inside the drum is uneven, causing the machine to vibrate and knock. This can be particularly loud and noticeable during the high-speed spin cycle. If the knocking is more constant, regardless of load or cycle, the issue might be related to worn-out bearings, which can also lead to a noisy spinning process.

I understand. Can the presence of a large and heavy object lead to an imbalance in the load?
Absolutely, large or heavy items can often unbalance the washing machine, especially if they're washed alone. It's best to mix light and heavy items in each load to prevent this.

What about these worn-out bearings? How could they cause knocking?
When bearings degrade over time, they're unable to support the drum effectively. This can cause the drum to knock or bang against the sides of the machine, especially when spinning at high speeds.

Does that mean my machine needs a professional repair?
Yes, in case of worn-out bearings, professional repair is advisable as replacing them isn't typically a DIY task.

Hello! The reason you are getting this is the bearing which is the main support of the drum in your washer. One it’s on spin it will sound like an airplane, the washer can work like this for a long time, but it can freeze the drum as soon as tomorrow. Usually it is not cost effective to repair this. The bearing itself is not very expensive but, we are require to replace the inner and outer drum as well because it usually creates a leak if bearing replace alone. Please let me know if you have further questions I will be more than happy to answer. Thanks Daniel with Premier Appliance. My direct number is 858-201-9526.
